SULFURIC ACID
UN 1830
Sulfuric acid is a strong two-part acid that corresponds to the strongest measure of sulfur oxidation. In a normal environment, it is a heavy viscous and very caustic liquid, having no color and no smell, which causes strong chemical burns, so it belongs, according to ADR, to goods of the 8th class of hazard.
Sulfuric acid is widely used in many areas of our lives:
- participates in the production of mineral fertilizers
- as an electrolyte in batteries
- derivative for various salts
- in the production of explosives
TRANSPORTATION OF
SULFURIC ACID
Transportation of sulfuric acid by motor transport of various types – battery , tower, glover, concentrated ones are carried out in special sulfuric acid tankers and tank containers made of special steel, which is not oxidized by acid. Rubberized containers are also used, which are also sealed. Such movement of acid is a dangerous transport, regulated by the rules of transportation of exhaust gas. Transportation of sulfuric acid can also be carried out in other packing, containers and glass bottles, with appropriate markings and hazard signs. All containers are filled to approximately 90% taking into account the expansion of the liquid when heated. It is necessary to transport sulfuric acid by road only in sealed and clean tanks. Transportation of oleum, sulfuric fuming acid (solution of anhydride S03 in sulfuric acid) should be carried out only by isothermal containers, to avoid temperature fluctuations. The delivery of sulfuric acid refers to the transportation of high-risk goods, in the case when the amount of acid exceeds 3000 liters per transport unit.
