Acetylene
Acetylene (2nd class of hazard) is a colorless gas with a garlic smell. It consists of hydrogen and carbon. For this reason, this gas is explosive. All this must be taken into account when delivering acetylene.
TRANSPORTATION OF ACETYLENE
Cylinders are used as containers and packaging for acetylene. The composition of their housings and valves should not include copper. Also, acetylene should not come into contact with silver, since it can form an explosive alloy that is unstable to shock and high temperature.
TRANSPORTATION OF ACETYLENE
BY ROAD TRANSPORT
In order to carry out the transportation of acetylene in dissolved form, metal gas cylinders are used. According to the rules for the transport of dangerous goods, acetylene is transported only if the pressure in the cylinders fully corresponds to the nominal values. In this case, the pressure must correspond to a certain temperature. For the transport of acetylene, normal conditions are considered to be a gas pressure of 1.9 MPa and an ambient temperature of 20 degrees.
In extreme case, we allow the use of any type of motor transport with the condition of compliance with the rules
for the safe transportation of explosive goods. We install the appropriate hazard signs on the vehicles.
When transporting acetylene by road, gas cylinders are placed in marked metal containers. The cylinders are arranged horizontally, and between them are placed gaskets made of wood.
